Welcome to Hanoi! Enjoy a leisurely walking tour around the Old Quarter.
Our guide and driver will meet you at the pick-up lobby upon arrival at Noi Bai Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter. During the 45-minute drive to the city center, the guide will provide you with basic information about the popular attractions in the city, traffic, culture, cuisine, weather… Arrive at your hotel, complete check-in and relax a little.
Please note: Check-in time at the hotel is 14:00
Our guide will take you for a walk around the peaceful Hoan Kiem Lake to the Opera House for the rest of the day. Along the way, stop to visit sites such as the King Ly Thai To statue, Sofitel Metropole Hanoi, and Vietnamese Government Guest House. Then head back to the old town for a stroll to explore some of the main streets before returning to your hotel.
Option: if your flight arrives late or you are feeling jet lag after a long journey, you can change the walking tour to the day of the city tour.
Visit a World Heritage Site – the Temple of Literature, explore a city museum, travel to the French Quarter and Ho Chi Minh Complex, take a walk around West Lake and the Old Quarter, and enjoy a water puppet show.
Our guide will collect you at 9.00 AM at the hotel and take you to the Temple of Literature. This historical site was built during the Ly Dynasty in the 11th century to worship Confucius and teach royal children and nobles. Take a stroll in the Giam Garden and go to Khue Van Cac – the symbol of Hanoi. Next, explore Quoc Tu Giam – Vietnam’s first university. Then, visit historical monuments such as the 82 Stelae of Doctors (World Documentary Heritage Site), the Thien Quang Well, the House of Ceremonies, and Khai Thanh Temple…
Select one of the city’s museums (options include Hoa Lo Prison Relic, National History Museum, Museum of Ethnology, and Fine Art Museum) to visit. Then, take a break for lunch and drinks (at your own expense).
In the afternoon, visit the French Quarter, often likened to a “little Paris” in Hanoi with its tree-lined boulevards, government head offices, and a large square. Then admire the outside of Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum. Take a stroll in the Botanical Gardens and continue to explore the Presidential Palace and the Stilt House where Uncle Ho used to live and work. Our next stop is the One Pillar Pagoda, a unique Buddhist architectural marvel a thousand years old which is one of Hanoi’s symbols. The tour time is from 1 and 2 hours depending on the number of travelers.
Proceed to the Quan Thanh temple (Tran Vu temple), regarded as one of the four guardian temples of Thang Long. This temple was built to worship Huyen Thien Tran Vu (Tran Vu God – the god who protects the north of the capital) in the 11th century during the reign of King Ly Thai To (1010 – 1028). Walk along the poetic road that crosses the West Lake and stop to visit Tran Quoc Pagoda, an important Buddhist pagoda dating from the 6th century under the reign of Emperor Ly Nam De.
End the day tour, we will enjoy an exciting water puppet show. This is a traditional form of performance art in Vietnam that first appeared in the Red River Delta in the 11th century. Water Puppetry is performed using a combination of puppetry, water effects, and traditional music. These performances are usually based on historical events and legends, or depictions of Vietnamese culture, beliefs, and rural life through puppets on water.
Take you back to the hotel.

Take a boat trip in Tam Coc, hike to Bich Dong Pagoda, and visit the ancient capital of Hoa Lu.
Indulge in breakfast at your hotel, then transfer to Tam Coc, which has been likened to “Halong Bay on land” with its beautiful scenery and was used as the setting for the famous French movie ‘Indochina’. On arrival at the pier, board a private sampan to cruise along the Ngo Dong River for a 90-minute trip. Pass through 3 natural caves and view the romantic natural landscape of rice paddies, and majestic limestone mountains interleaved with temples and small communities on 2 sides of the river.
Continue your tour to Bich Dong, a typical ancient pagoda of the Red River Delta, which was built in the 15th century. Bich Dong consists of 3 different pagodas built on a limestone mountain, from low to high, including Chua Ha (at low), Chua Trung (middle), and Chua Thuong (at top). These pagodas are nestled in caves amidst beautiful natural scenery. You’ll cross a stone bridge to reach Chua Ha, then climb up more than 100 steps to reach Chua Trung. Then, hike up until you reach Chua Thuong. Here you will have the chance to learn more about Buddhism and take in the stunning views.
Enjoy lunch with local dishes at a restaurant in Tam Coc. Then drive to Hoa Lu, the capital of the first centralized feudal state in Vietnam (from 968 to 1010). The citadel of Hoa Lu is surrounded by limestone mountains and rivers, which form a natural protective layer and make a breathtaking landscape.
Visit the temples of King Dinh and King Le, historical sites of great cultural significance in Vietnam. Both temples were built in the 17th century to worship Emperor Dinh Tien Hoang (founding emperor of the Dinh Dynasty and ruling from 968 to 980) and Emperor Le Dai Hanh (founding emperor of the pre-Le Dynasty and ruling Dai Co Viet from 980 to 1005), who played a vital role in securing the country’s independence after a thousand years of Chinese rule. Come to this spiritual place to pay respect to predecessors and help you better understand Vietnamese history and culture.
