City tour of Hoi An: Cam Pho, Quan Thang Ancient House, Chua Cau, Phuc Kien Assembly Hall, Tra Que Village.
9:00 AM: Pick up from your hotel to go sightseeing in Hoi An. Hoi An was one of the busiest trading ports in Southeast Asia from the 15th to the 19th century, and today the old town is still very well preserved. The interference of different cultures is evident in the many historic buildings, religious sites, and daily businesses, and it is increasingly enriched by the true lifestyle of the local people.
The first stop on your tour is Cam Pho, one of the oldest communal houses in Hoi An. Constructed in the late 15th century in the shape of “Quoc” (in Chinese character) meaning “country”. This communal house worships the Village’s Tutelary god. In the past, it was also used for trading and cultural exchange between the local community and Chinese/Japanese traders.
Walk to Chua Cau (Japanese Bridge) – Hoi An city’s symbol, built in the 17th century to link the Japanese and Chinese quarters. Over the past 400 years, the bridge has been carefully preserved in its original architectural style.
Continue your walk around the town, immerse yourself in the local life. Make a stop to visit Quan Thang Old House, one of Hoi An’s oldest houses. This house has a bold eastern architecture with vivid and fine carvings by the famous Kim Bong Carpentry Village craftsmen. On a visit to this place, you will have a glimpse of the daily life of the merchant class in old Hoi An.
The next stop on today’s tour is the Phuc Kien (Fujian) Assembly Hall, which was built in the 17th century in the style of ancient Chinese architecture. Fujian Assembly Hall served as a gathering place for locals, traders, and visitors from the Fujian region of China. It is also a religious site dedicated to worshipping the deity Thien Hau. Here, you can see the elaborate gates surrounding the campus, the brightly colored fountain in the courtyard, and the elaborate dragons in the main hall.
In the afternoon, drive to Tra Que village, famous for its aromatic herbs, basil and mint. The leaves of these herbs are smaller in size than the normal ones and they have a very special flavor. You will be introduced to the history of the village, the cultivation of vegetables, and the use of vegetables in traditional Vietnamese medicine. Visitors can also be able to meet and photograph the locals.
After the excursion, return to the city for some free time to explore the town or relax on the beach.
Travel to Hue, make a stop to visit the Cham Sculpture Museum, traverse Hai Van Pass, visit Thien Mu Pagoda, and discover Hue Citadel.
8:00 AM: Depart from Hoi An to Hue along the Da Nang coastal route. Arriving in Da Nang, make a stop to visit the Museum of Cham Sculpture, which houses the most important collections of Cham culture in Vietnam. Then, continue to My Khe Beach to see the view of the giant Goddess of Mercy statue in the Linh Ung Pagoda. Drive to Hue over the Hai Van Pass – The most breathtaking coastal route in Vietnam. Stop at Hai Van Quan to take in the stunning natural landscape.
After arriving in Hue, enjoy lunch and rest a bit. Afterward, visit Thien Mu Pagoda – one of the oldest pagodas in Hue, located on the hill of Ha Khe and dating back to the year 1601. Famous for its majestic octagonal tower (Phuoc Duyen Tower), Thien Mu Pagoda offers a beautiful view over the Huong River. For the people of Hue, this is a very important spiritual place. You will feel the light and peaceful soul when coming here.
Continue to Hue Citadel, Vietnam’s imperial city during the Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945). Inspired by the ramparts of Vauban’s citadel (France) and incorporating Eastern architectural principles, Hue Citadel was divided into three sections: Citadel (Kinh Thanh), Imperial City (Hoang Thanh) and Forbidden City (Tu Cam Thanh). Here you can visit the most beautiful and important sites of Hue, including the Palace of Supreme Harmony (Thai Hoa Palace), Meridian Gate (South Gate), Flag Tower, the Dynasty temple area, the settlement area…
At the end of the day, you will be taken to your hotel for check-in. Then it is time for some relaxation and enjoyment of your stay in the ancient capital.
Experience a boat trip on the Huong River, visit Minh Mang’s tomb, and explore Thuy Bieu village.
Pick up from the hotel and take you to visit Emperor Minh Mang’s tomb (Hieu Lang), one of the most elaborate tombs in the Nguyen dynasty tombs. Located on Cam Khe mountain, Minh Mang’s tomb was built between 1840 and 1843 by his successor, Emperor Thieu Tri, and required more than 10,000 people to construct. This tomb is considered a masterpiece of royal architecture featuring many magnificent structures (including nearly 40 large and small ones), symmetrically arranged and integrated in great harmony with the surrounding natural scenery.
Travel to Thuy Bieu village by a boat trip along the Huong River. It takes about an hour to reach Thuy Bieu, famous for its delicious grapefruit trees. Once here, you can take a bike ride around the village in the shadow of the grapefruit trees, breathing in the fresh air, smelling the sweet fragrance of flowers, and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Visit a temple dedicated to the village tutelary god, a traditional garden house built several centuries ago. Meet the villagers and converse with them. Then, indulge in lunch in the village.
Take part in a cooking class where you can learn the preparation of selected Hue dishes. Relish lunch at the village before heading back to Hue City in the afternoon.
Our private driver will wait for you at your hotel lobby in Hue city center and then transfer you to Phu Bai airport for about 30 minutes to catch your flight. Thanks for the visit to our city and have a safe journey.
