Advice
The weather in Central Vietnam from June to September is often hot and rainy. So you should bring sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, raincoats, and insect repellent if traveling during this time.
Upon landing at Phu Bai Airport, our tour guide and driver will greet you at the pickup lobby, and then transfer you to the hotel in the city. During a 30-minute drive to Hue city center, you will receive information about the most visited attractions. The tour guide also introduces and shares experiences about culture, traffic, weather, and cuisine for you.
When arriving at your hotel, complete the check-in process and take some time to rest.
With the remaining time of the day, you can relax or freely explore Hue City at your discretion.
Take a boat trip, explore Minh Mang’s tomb, and visit Thuy Bieu village, Thien Mu pagoda & Hue Citadel.
8:00: Leave your hotel and start transferring to the tomb of Emperor Minh Mang (Hieu Lang), one of the most elaborate tombs in the tomb complex of Nguyen Dynasty kings. This tomb is located on Cam Khe mountain, built between 1840 and 1843 by his successor – Emperor Thieu Tri with the labor of more than 10,000 people. The tomb of Minh Mang is a masterpiece of royal architecture with many magnificent structures (including nearly 40 large and small structures) symmetrically arranged and integrated in harmony with the surrounding natural landscape.
Take a boat along the Huong River to Thuy Bieu village. After about an hour, you will arrive at Thuy Bieu, which is well-known for its delicious grapefruit trees. Once here, you can cycle around the village under the shade of the grapefruit trees, breathe in the fresh air, smell the pleasant floral scent, and enjoy the serene atmosphere. Visit a temple dedicated to the tutelary deity of the village, a traditional garden house that was built a few centuries ago. Encounter and interact with the villagers. Then, savor lunch in the village.
In the afternoon, drive to visit Thien Mu Pagoda, an ancient pagoda in Hue dating back to 1601. This is an important spiritual destination for the people of Hue, well-known for its 7-story octagonal tower (Phuoc Duyen Tower) and offers beautiful views overlooking the Huong River.
Return to the city center and continue visiting Hue Citadel (Thuan Hoa Citadel), Vietnam’s imperial city during the Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945). Hue Citadel is divided into three distinct sections: the Citadel (Kinh Thanh), the Imperial City (Hoang Thanh) and the Forbidden City (Tu Cam Thanh). This citadel was inspired by the rampart structure of Vauban’s Citadel (France), incorporating Eastern architectural principles. Here you can visit Hue’s most prominent monuments such as the Meridian Gate (South Gate), the Flag Tower, the Palace of Supreme Harmony (Thai Hoa Palace), the Dynasty Temple area, the Dien Tho Palace, and the Settlement area…
In the late afternoon, transfer you back to the hotel. You are free to uncover the city in the evening.
Make the way to Hoi An through the stunning Hai Van Pass, visit the Cham Sculpture Museum, and partake in the Hoi An half-day city tour.
7:30 AM: Collect you from the hotel, then transfer to Hoi An via Hai Van Pass. You can make a stop to admire the stunning natural scenery from above. When arriving in Da Nang, stop to visit the Museum of Cham Sculpture, which houses the most important Cham culture collections in Vietnam. Walk along My Khe beach where you can contemplate the view of the giant Goddess of Mercy statue at the Linh Ung Pagoda.
In the afternoon, start to visit the ancient town. Hoi An was one of the most bustling international trading ports in Southeast Asia and today the old town is still conserved intact. Upon arriving here, travelers will easily be able to feel the intermingling of different cultures in the many historic buildings, the religions, and the lifestyles of local inhabitants.
The first attraction is Cam Pho – one of the oldest communal houses in Hoi An. The entire communal house was built in the shape of “Quoc” (in the Chinese character), meaning “country”. This place is used for worship, the celebration of traditional village festivals, and cultural exchanges.
Walk to Chua Cau (Japanese Covered Bridge), the symbol of Hoi An city. In the 17th century, Chua Cau was built to connect the Japanese quarter with the Chinese neighborhoods. Over the past 400 years, the bridge has carefully maintained its original architectural style.
Continue your walk to Quan Thang Ancient House – one of the truest old houses in Hoi An. This house has a bold eastern style of architecture with lively and sophisticated carvings by the famous artisans of Kim Bong Carpentry Village. When you visit this place, you can partly imagine the way of life of the merchant class in the old Hoi An.
The last stop on the tour today is the Phuc Kien (Fujian) Assembly Hall, which was built in the 17th century in the style of ancient Chinese architecture. The Assembly Hall was used as a meeting place for the local people, traders, and visitors from the Fujian area of China. It is also a religious site for the worship of the deity Thien Hau. Here, you can observe the elaborate gates surrounding the estate, the colorful fountain in the yard, and the elaborate dragons in the main hall.
Then, transfer back to your hotel or free time for city exploration.
Ride a bicycle to visit Kim Bong and Tra Nhieu villages, take a boat trip to Cam Thanh village, encounter and interact with local people.
Gather at your hotel, then start cycling to Hoi An pier and board the ferry crossing the Thu Bon River to Kim Bong village. On the boat, you can enjoy the fresh air of the peaceful countryside and take in the idyllic scenery on both sides of the river.
Kim Bong village has long been renowned for its woodcarvings. Take a bike ride around the village to discover and learn more about the daily life of the local people. Visit a carpenter’s workshop to observe the craftsmen’s skills. If you like, you can buy a few wooden gifts to give to your friends.
Continue cycling along the trails to reach Tra Nhieu village. Enjoy the serene landscape of vast palm and rice fields, take in the buffalo and farmers working the fields. Afterward, board a boat excursion along the Thu Bon River and head to Cam Thanh village.
Upon arrival in Cam Thanh, board a small round bamboo sampan basket boat and experience crab catching in the water palm trees forest. This is a relaxing time and helps you more comfortable following hours of biking. Then, rest a bit at the fisherman’s house (Mr. Phong). Here, you can savor a cup of green tea and a foot massage with medicinal herbs planted in the family garden. Afterward, prepare herbs and vegetables from Tra Que village and practice making some dishes like crispy pancakes, Hoi An spring rolls, grilled fish in banana leaves, and Tam Huu (three friends) … finally, indulge in the dishes you made.
We will transfer you back to the hotel in the afternoon.
Enjoy some leisure time at your hotel until our private driver picks you up and transfers you to Da Nang Airport for 45 minutes (either international or domestic terminal based on your request). Thank you for visiting our city and have a safe flight.
