At 7:30 AM, the commencement of your grand adventure in one of Northern Vietnam’s most remote regions begins. Your guide will collect you from your hotel in Ha Giang City, marking the start of your journey to Dong Van. Along the way, you will pass through Quan Ba and its renowned Fairy Bosom Hills, explore a French bunker dating back to the colonial era, and pause for lunch in Mau Due.
Next on the itinerary is Meo Vac, where you will embark on the first trek of your trip a 10-kilometer hike through the awe-inspiring Ma Pi Leng pass, a must-visit destination in Ha Giang. You’ll traverse the valley, closely following the contours of the undulating mountains, all while gazing out over the Nho Que River and taking in unparalleled vistas of the valleys and terraced hemp fields that adorn the mountainsides. This journey along the path will elicit emotions you’ve never experienced before.
While it’s not recommended, if you prefer not to trek, you will have the option to stay in the car with the driver and wind your way down the pass to the trail’s end. You can make stops for photos along the way. Upon reaching Dong Van, you will check into a hotel for the night and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

If you happen to be traveling in Dong Van on a Sunday morning, consider yourself fortunate, as you shouldn’t miss the weekly market that brings together all the local ethnic minorities in the region. This market offers a unique opportunity to stroll through the bustling crowd, observe the trade of buffalos, cows, and chickens, and be captivated by the vibrant booths showcasing traditional ethnic clothing.
Afterward, as we resume our journey in the car, we will continue our circuit towards the final frontier, passing through the enigmatic Ma Le region. This route is still a well-kept secret, capable of leading you to the northernmost point of Vietnam, Lung Cu Flag Tower, which is home to the Lo Lo ethnic minority.
Alternatively, it can guide you to Vuong Palace, our next destination. Vuong Palace is a distinctive place, the residence of the H’mong King, characterized by its architectural fusion of Chinese, French, and Hmong influences. During the French colonization, it also served as a covert storage facility for opium.
Our tour will then proceed to Yen Minh, renowned for its numerous terraced fields that adorn the mountainsides. Lunch will be provided at our upcoming stop in Quan Ba before we make our way back to Ha Giang City.
